The four series of publications of the ZZF take up current issues of contemporary history, politics, economy, society, education and culture. In addition to the publication series "Zeithistorische Studien" (Contemporary Historical Studies), published by Böhlau, and the house series "Geschichte der Gegenwart", published by Wallstein Verlag, two new series were added in 2014 and 2016: the series "Media and Social Change in the 20th Century", which is also published by Wallstein Verlag, and the publication "History of the Present", published by Christoph Links and "Communism and Society".
The thematic and methodological diversity of the projects located at the ZZF also leads to publication venues beyond the publication series. The research results of the ZZF are published as books by other renowned publishers.
The Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam (ZZF) is committed to Open Access.

In addition, Zeithistorische Forschungen/Studies in Contemporary History (ZF/SCH) is a peer-reviewed journal on questions of contemporary history in a German, European and global dimension. The editors are Frank Bösch and Martin Sabrow. The journal is published in an identical issue online in open access and in a print edition by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht .
