The ZZF has been a member of the Leibniz Association since 2009 and therefore receives funding from both the federal and state governments. The ZZF has been a legally registered association based in Potsdam since 1996. The ZZF’s statutes also define its committee structure. In addition to the Executive Board, the bodies include the General Assembly, the Board of Trustees and the Scientific Advisory Board.
The ZZF’s research and knowledge transfer is organised in the Directorate and its associated divisions as well as in five departments: Department I: Communism and Society; Department II: Knowledge - Economy – Politics; Department III: Media and Information Society, Department IV: Regimes of the Social; and Department V: Globalisations in a Divided World.
The Works Council represents the interests of all employees and associated colleagues. The current three leaders of the Works Council were elected in 2021. The Association of Friends and Sponsors of the ZZF Potsdam also supports our work, co-financing events at the interface of culture and science that communicate the results of contemporary historical research to the public.
