Opportunities

The ZZF Potsdam is involved in a variety of ways in the training of young scientists and in the promotion of scientists in early career phases.

MASTER

Since the winter semester 2008/09, Freie Universität Berlin and the ZZF have been jointly offering the application-oriented, consecutive master's program in Public History. This will take into account the high media interest in history as well as the increased social importance of museums, memorials, associations, foundations and companies. 

DOCTORAL STUDIES AT THE ZZF

Around 50 doctoral students are currently conducting research at the ZZF. They are involved in the substantive work of the departments and discuss their work progress in their own colloquium. In addition, workshops on theory and methodology, writing circles, archive visits and events on the career prospects of historians are held regularly. In Master Classes, internationally renowned experts discuss overarching aspects of individual dissertation proposals, such as "Oral History" or "History and Media". Once a year, the doctoral students of the ZZF organize their own conference for young researchers, the Potsdam Doctoral Forum on Contemporary History, which focuses on the discussion of ongoing dissertation projects and scientific networking.
