Library Catalogue

In addition to printed media units, the OPAC also catalogues electronic media, audiovisual media, almost 800 printed journals and numerous electronic journals. Open access publications that match the collection profile are also catalogued.

Thematic searches are possible in the catalogue using keywords. Subject-specific articles from anthologies and journals are continuously indexed and can be searched in the catalogue - now over 30,000 articles.

The print holdings are catalogued in the library's reading rooms by consecutive number (numerus currens). Digital holdings can be viewed on site.

ZZF Bibliography

Publications by the ZZF's staff are listed separately in the OPAC. The resulting institute's bibliography currently comprises more than 4,000 entries (as of June 2024). In addition to the monographs and edited volumes published by the ZZF since 1992, the scientific articles and open access publications by staff members are also recorded.

This bibliographic extract of the catalogue is constantly updated and supplemented retrospectively.

Document and Publication Server

The ZZF repository includes retro-digitised ZZF publications, preprints of lectures and born digital documents, which are made available here in accordance with the institute's open access policy.

The retro-digitised holdings from the series "Zeithistorische Studien" (Böhlau) and "Geschichte der Gegenwart" (Wallstein) published by the ZZF are compiled in the ZZF series "digital reprints".

E-Book platform

ZZF employees have access to the e-book platform Ebook Central. E-books purchased by the ZZF can be used via this platform. In addition, the platform offers a quick search for relevant e-books and quick access to more than 1 million e-books worldwide.

Databases for contemporary history

The Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam offers access to numerous licensed databases on the institute's premises. The ZZF also develops its own thematic databases, which are generally freely accessible. We present some of them below.

Journals

The ZZF library has 10 daily and weekly newspapers and 67 academic journals on subscription. Almost 800 additional titles are held in the journal archive. In addition, the library has subscribed to or licenced digital access for numerous daily newspapers and e-journals.
