Journals

The ZZF library has 10 daily and weekly newspapers and 67 academic journals on subscription. Almost 800 additional titles are held in the journal archive. In addition, the library has subscribed to or licenced digital access for numerous daily newspapers and e-journals.

General journal databases

ZZF holdings in the Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB) ("Electronic Journals Library"): All full-text journals accessible at the ZZF at a glance, including publisher packages through national licences. More than 22.400 journals are freely accessible in full text (green traffic light). A yellow or yellow-red traffic light indicates the e-journals subscribed to by the ZZF.

The electronic journal archive JSTOR - The Scholarly Journal Archive offers access to predominantly Anglo-American journals in full text from their first volume up to a ‘moving wall’ (2 to 5 years before the current volume, depending on the title). The licence of the ZZF includes access to the full texts of the Collections Arts and Sciences I - XV, Life Sciences, Jewish Studies.

The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a directory of currently over 20,000 freely accessible, quality-controlled scientific journals across all subject areas.

The Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) ("Journal database") lists printed and electronic journals, newspapers and other periodicals in German and Austrian libraries.

The F.A.Z. 49-92 database contains all articles published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung from 1949 to 1992. F.A.Z.-BiblioNet is the ‘current’ archive of the F.A.Z. It contains articles from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung from 1 January 1993, from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung from 1995 and from FAZ.NET since 2001. F.A.Z.-BiblioNet is updated daily.

DDR-Presse

The newspaper portal DDR-Presse (GDR press) boffers full-text access to the three daily newspapers: Neues Deutschland (until 1990), Berliner Zeitung (until 1993) and Neue Zeit (until 5 July 1994). The complete presentation takes place at page and article level as facsimile and at article level as automatically indexed text. The database can only be used on the premises of the ZZF!

Pressespiegel

The Plus+ offers of the daily and weekly newspapers of Tagesspiegel (incl. Potsdamer Neueste Nachrichten), Welt, Spiegel and Zeit can be viewed on site in the library. They also include access to the electronic newspaper archives.

The Financial Times Historical Archive includes all print editions of the „Financial Times“ from 1888-2006 as well as the supplements „Financial Times Magazine“ and „How to Spend it“. The content can be searched in full text, and the statistics and tables contained can be exported and downloaded. At the same time, each individual issue can be searched separately.

Historical Newspapers

ProQuest Historial Newspapers includes The Guardian, The Observer, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times. Included are the complete newspaper pages (pdf files) as well as the individually indexed articles, commentaries, reviews, photos, cartoons, adverts, letters to the editor and family announcements.

Izvestija

The Izvestija Digital Archive contains the digitised editions of ‘Izvestija’ (PDF format) from 1917-1991.

The Pravda Digital Archive contains the full-text digitised Russian-language daily newspaper “Pravda” from 1912-2009.

The Times

The Times Digital Archive contains the full-text editions of The Times from 1785-1985.

The Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive contains the full-text editions of the Times Literary Supplement from 1902-2005. The Times Literary Supplement reviews titles in all academic subjects as well as fiction and current productions from theatre, cinema and exhibitions.
