The four series of publications of the ZZF take up current issues of contemporary history, politics, economy, society, education and culture. In addition to the publication series "Zeithistorische Studien" (Contemporary Historical Studies), published by Böhlau, and the house series "Geschichte der Gegenwart", published by Wallstein Verlag, two new series were added in 2014 and 2016: the series "Media and Social Change in the 20th Century", which is also published by Wallstein Verlag, and the publication "History of the Present", published by Christoph Links and "Communism and Society".
This series focuses on studies in communism as a dictatorial political and social order and as an intellectual world, integrating approaches from political, social and cultural history.
