This series focuses on studies in communism as a dictatorial political and social order and as an intellectual world, integrating approaches from political, social and cultural history. It mainly investigates the social practice of communist rule in the societies of the GDR, the Soviet Union and the Eastern bloc in Europe. Proceeding from the dictatorial constitution and totalitarian mindset of the communist system of rule, these communism studies inquire into the inner life and transformation processes in communist societies as well as into the impact of social and mental influences.
