The series "Geschichte der Gegenwart" (History of the Present)  was launched with the admission of the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam to the Leibniz Association and has been published by Wallstein Verlag since 2010. Its essays focus on those events, processes, and structures in German and European history that are essential for understanding the social and cultural world of the twentieth century.

The series in Open Access

As part of a three-year project by Wallstein Verlag, the books in the “History of the Present” series will be published in hybrid (print and digital) open access from volume 33 onwards from September 2023.

The older titles in the series will gradually be published in open access on the ZZF's document server.
