ls Holocaust denial evil public history or simply political propaganda? This paper argues that the birth of Holocaust denial was not only the reaction of a small group of extreme anti-Semites to the murder of the Jews, but also the continuation of nationalist propaganda practices in use since the 1930s. The propaganda apparatus that gave rise to Negationism was created and supported by a transnational network of nationalist politicians, businessmen and other elites. They used antisemitism as a weapon directed not only against Jews, but also against the liberal societies they wanted to destroy.
