The project examines the convergence of East and West German radio journalism in the transformation phase of the 1990s based on the example of 'Deutschlandradio', which emerged from the East Berlin radio station 'Deutschlandsender Kultur' and the West German stations 'Deutschlandfunk' and 'Rundfunk im Amerikanischen Sektor' in 1994. The project explores the formative ideas and figures that shaped the only national radio in Germany. For this purpose, it focuses on the roles of the decision-makers during the merger as well as the cooperation and conflicts between East and West German employees after the merging process. In particular, the events at the Berlin location of 'Deutschlandradio' in the former 'RIAS-Funkhaus' are examined.
