Completed Research project

We plan a series of interviews with those German and East Europeans historians who re-established contacts in the age of détente. The interviews will trace the contacts from their beginning in the early 1970s until the end of the Cold War. They will explore personal relations between the protagonists, major themes and controversies – all overshadowed by the Cold War. The project aims to historicise the role historians played in the twentieth century.
