The portal “DDR im Film”, designed as an online handbook, is a sub-project of the BMBF joint project “The Media Heritage of the GDR”. It offers comprehensive information and contextualizing classifications on all films that have been made on this topic since 1990.
There is a separate article on almost every film with a GDR focus, containing information on the production and financing, the people involved and the reactions of the audience. In particular, the place of the respective film in the discourse on remembrance is highlighted. The handbook also contains articles on important actors and aspects.
The portal is a joint product of the Freie Universität Berlin, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the ZZF Potsdam.
