Library

The ZZF's special library collects academic literature on German and European contemporary history since 1945, with a focus on social and economic history, political and cultural history and media history. International literature on the history of the division and reunification of Germany forms the core of the library, which is open to the public as a reference library in the centre of Potsdam and is available to ZZF researchers and anyone interested in contemporary history.

Library Catalogue

In addition to printed media units, the OPAC also catalogues electronic media, audiovisual media, almost 800 printed journals and numerous electronic journals. Open access publications that match the collection profile are also catalogued.

Thematic searches are possible in the catalogue using keywords. Subject-specific articles from anthologies and journals are continuously indexed and can be searched in the catalogue - now over 30,000 articles.

The print holdings are catalogued in the library's reading rooms by consecutive number (numerus currens). Digital holdings can be viewed on site.

 

ZZF Bibliography

Publications by the ZZF's staff are listed separately in the OPAC. The resulting institute's bibliography currently comprises more than 4,000 entries (as of June 2024). In addition to the monographs and edited volumes published by the ZZF since 1992, the scientific articles and open access publications by staff members are also recorded.
