Digitalizing Memory: Reconstructing the Past with Media Technologies and Artificial Intelligence
This study explores how digital platforms and artificial intelligence are reshaping memory practices, particularly in the context of historical justice and counter-memory in Turkey. While traditional archives store memory statically, digital archives and AI-driven systems dynamically mediate remembrance, influencing both hegemonic and alternative narratives. The research examines platforms like the Historical Justice and Memory Museum, the Truth and Justice Center, the Madımak Memory Center analyzing their role in justice-seeking and memory activism. By investigating the intersection of AI, digital media, and counter-memory, the project seeks to understand whether digital spaces foster a more democratic and pluralistic memory culture, and how AI can contribute to more inclusive historical narratives.
