Helmut Kohl's 16-year reign (1982-1998) not only saw German reunification, but also the Schengen Agreement, the Maastricht Treaty and the introduction of the euro, which set the course for European integration.
The exhibition tells the tense phase of German and European contemporary history in the 1980s and 1990s from an East and West German perspective. It traces the successes and failures of the unification process as well as the dynamics and conflicts of the transformation period.
The permanent exhibition is being created under the auspices of the Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Kohl-Stiftung.
