Zeitgeschichte-digital- Preis

This year's prize was awarded on November 11, 2021.
It went to Potsdam historian Dr. Michael Homberg for his contribution "Computerliebe," which is dedicated to the beginnings of electronic dating in the United States and Western Europe. For the first time, a special prize was also awarded for a lifetime achievement in the field of digital historiography: Professor Dr. Rüdiger Hohls of Humboldt University in Berlin received the award for his pioneering work in setting up the "H-Soz-Kult" service, the most important platform for digital networking in historical scholarship. Read more in the news article (in geman) on the award ceremony.

The Friends of the ZZF Potsdam e.V. has awarded the "Zeitgeschichte digital-Preis" annually since 2017. It is endowed with 500 euros and is the first award in Germany that is dedicated to digital publications in the historical sciences. The prize recognizes the contribution that most successfully combined digital tools and online-presentation technologies with a convincing hypothesis and surprising results. The prize is named after an internet platform of the ZZF, which, among other things, links the four online offerings developed and editorially supervised at the institute, Docupedia, Visual History, zeitgeschichte | online, and Zeithistorische Forschungen. In previous years, Gangolf Hübinger and Kim Christian Priemel (2020), Jutta Braun (2019), Jens Jäger (2018), and Harriet Scharnberg and Gerhard Paul (2017) were awarded the prize.
