The Leibniz-Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam / Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam (ZZF) is pleased to invite applications for three
Leibniz Summer Fellowships in the field of “German and/or European (including Eastern European) History in the Twentieth Century.”
These two-month fellowships provide an opportunity to pursue individual research in Germany while participating in the academic life of one of Germany’s major historical research centres.
Founded in 1992, the ZZF is interested in all aspects of contemporary European History and currently comprises five research departments: “Communism and Society”, “Knowledge, Economy, Politics”, “Regimes of the Social Sphere”, “Contemporary History in the Age of Media and Information” and “Globalizations in a Divided World”. The ZZF library holds approximately 100,000 items and subscribes to more than 100 periodicals.
We expect applicants to have post-doctoral standing and provide evidence of an outstanding academic record. Fellows are free to pursue research related to their own individual interests, yet applicants whose interests relate to one or more of the research departments of the ZZF will be preferred. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of the institute’s departments, offered participation in departmental activities, and asked to present their project as part of the institute’s research seminar.
The Leibniz Summer Fellowship provides a monthly grant of 3,000 €. This funding is expected to cover all living and travelling expenses, including appropriate insurance. Fellows are asked to reside in Berlin or Potsdam for two consecutive months between April and October 2025. The ZZF will provide office space, computer access, and other relevant facilities.
The application deadline is November 30, 2024. Decisions will be announced no later than December 31, 2024. Applications are accepted in English or German and must include
- a letter of interest;
- a curriculum vitae;
- a list of publications;
- a project proposal not exceeding 1,500 words.
