Violence against Weimar

Beginn des Projektes: August 2021

Media, exhibition and commemorative project
August 2021- December 2022
Cooperation project with the Walther Rathenau-Gesellschaft, the Rathenau Stift GmbH and Deutschlandfunk Kultur

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the assassination of Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau, the ZZF Potsdam in cooperation with the Walther Rathenau-Gesellschaft, the Rathenau Stift GmbH and Deutschlandfunk Kultur has developed the media, exhibition and commemorative project "Violence against Weimar". It deals with the violent challenges of the Weimar Republic 100 years ago, but also with the threats to German democracy up to the present.

Since August 25, 2021, DLF Kultur in its program „Zeitfragen“ will broadcast a short feature on the topic of "100 Years of Political Violence in Germany" every Wednesday at shortly before 7:30 p.m., created in cooperation with the ZZF. This format will be flanked by blog posts on www.demokratiegeschichten.de and Twitter contributions.

Other sub-projects include a special exhibition in and around the Paul Löbe House as well as at the Rathenau Memorial in Bad Freienwalde and the House of the Weimar Republic in Weimar. A commemorative event to mark the 100th anniversary of Walther Rathenau's assassination on June 24, 2022 is also part of the project.
