War on Ukraine: A Conversation with Ukrainian Historians
The Russian aggression against Ukraine has been going on since 2014, while the Russian full-scale war has been going on for almost four months now. This war against Ukraine has become a "Zeitenwende", a turning point, for the entire world. However, it is primarily threatening the existence of Ukraine, whose statehood, history and culture are under direct attack. Ukrainians are forced to defend their country against the unrelenting and brutal aggression of an imperial power that has already caused thousands of victims, unbelievable destruction and suffering, and millions of refugees.
After the war had begun, historians Olha Korniienko and Iuliia Skubytska had to flee Ukraine and are now Visiting Fellows at the ZZF. Together with our colleagues Evgen Zinger, who was born in Ukraine, and Prof. Dr. Jan Claas Behrends we want to take a closer look at Ukrainian perspectives on this war. The aim of the event is to discuss the complex prehistory of this war and the development of Russian-Ukrainian relations.
The panel discussion will be held in English.
Join us for drinks and conversation with our guests after the event.
