Rich and poor. Conflicts over social inequality in the 20th and 21st centuries

Bookproject

The aim of the book project is to provide a history of social inequalities in the 20th and early 21st centuries from the perspective of conflict history, which aims to contribute to the historical contextualization of current debates. Using Germany as an example, the study examines which specific inequality regimes and privilege structures were created by the major political orders and how social differences were perceived and interpreted in different political contexts. Which inequalities were considered legitimate/illegitimate and for what reasons? What mechanisms were developed to regulate and compensate for inequalities that were perceived as inappropriate?
